Digital Nomad? 7 tips for working and traveling at the same time!

Nomad

With new technologies, many jobs are now done 100% remotely.

As well as allowing autonomous time management, this also guarantees more free, quality time. Many remote workers choose to take the opportunity to travel and see the world while they work.

If you work remotely or as a hybrid and have always dreamed of traveling the world without hindrance, here are some tips to help you stay productive while getting to know new cultures.

1. Start with different cities in your country before venturing abroad

Remote working may seem simple and doable, but there are several factors to take into account and it can take some time to get into the routine.

If you’ve just started working remotely, here are some tips to help you stay productive and balance your work and personal life.

To begin your life as a digital nomad, we recommend that you start by visiting cities within your own country, at least until you get used to the routine of working remotely and traveling.

2. Be aware of the different time zones

One possible problem you may encounter while combining work and travel is the time difference between your work headquarters and the country you visit.

A good option to avoid this problem, at least in the beginning, while adapting to life as a digital nomad, is to choose countries close to your home country with the same working hours.

As well as the time difference being less than that of a country at the other end of the globe, it can serve as an excellent introductory phase until you get used to your routine.

3. Make your lifestyle as minimalist as possible

If you want to travel all over the world while working, you need to be prepared to move constantly. This means no longer valuing certain material possessions that you can’t take with you on your travels.

Focus only on the essentials and devices you need to work.

4. Stay constantly connected

This is one of the essential points for all remote workers. You need to be constantly connected to your team and superiors for any eventuality.

It is therefore mandatory that during working hours you are able to be in a place where the internet is functional.

5. All-round insurance

Many countries have different rules regarding the health of their citizens and tourists.

That’s why the best option for safeguarding yourself in the event of an eventuality is to make sure you have adequate health insurance, as well as insurance for all the devices you need to do your job.

6. Connect with other digital nomads

Everything is easier when we get help and support. There are several apps and websites where digital nomads connect to work and travel together, such as Nomag and Planet Nomad.

This is an excellent starting point to get to know some real stories and better prepare for your travels, not least because there are many situations you won’t be prepared for.

7. Work organization

One of the mistakes that can happen when working remotely – especially if you’re traveling – is forgetting your work-related priorities. You must take your daily tasks into account and not neglect them.

Establish a work schedule and another to enjoy the trip, ensuring that you can keep productivity high and achieve a balance between work and leisure.
